Chelsea are prioritising a January move for Russian international Arsen Zakharyan, with discussions likely to resume with Dynamo Moscow.
According to Give Me Sport, Chelsea want to sign Arsen Zakharyan on priority in January. The Blues have chased the 19-year-old versatile midfielder since the summer, and they could finally land the Russian international in the next window.
Chelsea are ramping up their efforts in the transfer market as Todd Boehly wants to bring in the best talents around Europe to Stamford Bridge. The new Chelsea owner embarked on an exciting project to build a team capable of challenging for major trophies.
As part of the rebuild, Chelsea brought in key defensive stars in Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana. They already have an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Christopher Nkunku. Bringing the Frenchman, in whom several other top sides had shown an interest, marks a statement of intent from the Blues.
The west Londoners are in contact with AC Milan for star winger Rafael Leao as Boehly looks to form a breathtaking attacking lineup ahead of next season. Arsen Zakharyan is also a player they have been keen on signing for some time now, and Chelsea could make another attempt in January.
Dynamo Moscow director Gafin tells TASS: "We can't rule out resuming talks with Chelsea for Zakharyan. On his alleged contract with Chelsea, we don't know anything about this". 🚨🔵 #CFC

The signing of the 19-year-old versatile midfielder has proven complicated following the sanctions imposed on Russian players and clubs. This was why a move could not conclude in the summer when Chelsea were close to bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
There is an expectation things could improve on the political front. For now, Chelsea are prioritising signing the 19-year-old versatile midfielder ahead of January. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Zakharyan’s interest in joining the Premier League giants. Meanwhile, Dynamo Moscow’s director Dmitry Gafin has hinted at resuming talks over a transfer.
There were reports of Chelsea agreeing on personal terms with Zakharyan. Gafin, however, is unaware of such details. As such, the 19-year-old versatile midfielder has a release clause of £12.6 million, which is not a problem for Chelsea to meet.
Chelsea could step up their efforts to sign Zakharyan in the coming days, as they could look to finalise a deal soon. Zakharyan is a player suited for their future squads. Those may also involve key summer arrivals Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, and Omari Hutchinson.
