La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly poised to offer a five-year contract to prodigious 19-year-old defender Alejandro Balde.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona will look to tie Alejandro Balde to a five-year deal. In addition, the Blaugrana will bump the release clause of the prodigious 19-year-old defender to €1 billion, in line with other top players like Gavi and Pedri.

Alejandro Balde is one of the most promising young full-backs in Spain, showing tremendous progress in his formative years. The teenage prodigy has been with Barcelona for over a decade and rose through the ranks in La Masia before making his first-team debut last year.

The 19-year-old is now a regular for Barcelona, turning out 16 times across all competitions thus far this season. At the same time, Balde has broken into the Spanish national squad and is currently in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. But recent reports suggested that he faced an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou.

Serie A clubs, including AC Milan, have reportedly shown interest in the prodigious defender. And the suggestions from the reports were understandable, considering Balde will enter the final 18 months of his Barcelona contract in January. But the Catalan giants have been keen on tying him to a long-term deal.

Recent reports claimed that Barcelona and Balde were in talks over a new long-term contract. And Fabrizio Romano has now offered an update on the situation. The reputed Italian journalist has claimed that Barcelona will offer the teenage prodigy a five-year deal.

In addition, the Blaugrana will bump the release clause in his contract to a whopping €1 billion. That sum is in line with the latest renewals of top players like Pedri, Ansu Fati, and Gavi. Doing so will take suitors out of the equation to create a Neymar-like case in the future.

Barcelona will also hike Balde’s wages, and all signs point towards the extension of the union between the two parties. So it will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants officiate the renewal of the prodigious 19-year-old defender anytime soon.
