Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Polish defender Jakub Kiwior from Serie A club Spezia next year.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a shrewd move for Spezia’s Polish defender Jakub Kiwior. Another London club West Ham United are also very keen to sign the 22-year-old and could be involved in a transfer tussle.

Tottenham’s defensive unit has faced a harrowing task this season, and they have not been at their best. Apart from Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez have had their fair share of struggles, while Clement Lenglet will return to Barcelona when his loan spell ends next summer.

If things spiral down more after the World Cup, Tottenham could make the first move for the 22-year-old defender. With the player valued just at €6 million, it would be worth taking the risk given his meagre price tag.

Kiwior played a pivotal part as Poland played a stalemate with Mexico in the World Cup. He could appear to be a smart acquisition should he manage to have to smooth transition from Serie A to the Premier League.

The UEFA Champions League proposition also would be too hard to reject as Tottenham will go all out to end their trophy drought this season. Japhet Tanganga has not played a minute in the Premier League this season, and he appears to be on his way out from the North London club.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring his situation and could be interested in making a move for the young defender. In addition, West Ham United will also be in the equation. The 22-year-old is considered to be the future of the current Poland team, and his performance in this edition of the World Cup could earn him a pretty hefty move.

Conte is very familiar with the surrounding in Serie A, and players like Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have already been enjoying life in London. Kiwior could soon follow the suit but the North London giants need to move fast in January as a plethora of other suitors are waiting in the wings for his service. Tottenham have other centre-backs, including Kim Min-jae, on their radar as well.
