Chelsea will battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain for acquiring the services of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.
As per Fichajes, Chelsea have joined Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit of French winger Ousmane Dembele. The Barcelona forward has been in raging form and has alerted his suitors with his superb goalscoring form.
Ousmane Dembele’s persistent injury issues derailed his path earlier in his Barcelona stint. But this season, he has managed to stay fit so far and has lit up La Liga with his ravishing form.
Chelsea were ready to pounce on the player when he was in two minds before extending his stay for further two more years. The 25-year-old will likely earn to the tune of €16 million per season, and his contract also includes a release clause which is worth €50 million.
Dembele has emerged as Xavi’s preferred option on the right wing but has also provided his support from the left flank on some occasions. He looked certain to leave Barcelona this past summer. But a change of attitude might have played the part, and the Blaugrana interested to offer him a further extension which could erode his current release clause.
Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the player and will try to follow up on their interest in the summer. Kylian Mbappe’s intention of leaving the club is still not very clear. But should the French forward decide to end his PSG career, Dembele could be reunited with Lionel Messi.
The French giants must be aware of his potential release clause and could fund his move easily by selling Mbappe to a potential suitor. With Messi also entering the twilight of his career, PSG might also have to freshen up their attack.
Recruiting a forward will be a priority, and PSG will be assessing their options. Previously, they managed to snap up Neymar and Messi from Barcelona, and it remains to be seen whether they manage to repeat their trickery. Chelsea will definitely be eyeing a forward and could be involved in a transfer tussle with PSG this upcoming summer.
