AC Milan could open the door for Hakim Ziyech to arrive in January on loan as his Chelsea future hangs by a thread.

According to 90min, Hakim Ziyech could exit Chelsea in January and join AC Milan on loan. The Morocco international has struggled for game time this season, and a move away could be the only solution to play regularly.

Hakim Ziyech is struggling for relevance in the Chelsea squad, as his game time has steadily reduced this year. There are concerns about whether he will ever cement a regular place in the team under Graham Potter. Similar tensions evolved in the summer under former boss Thomas Tuchel as the Blues were ready to let him leave.

The Blues wanted a permanent transfer for Ziyech, and AC Milan remained linked with the 29-year-old Chelsea star. While the Rossoneri chased the Moroccan playmaker until the last few days, they were unwilling to pay a hefty price tag for a player his age.

Instead, they invested €32 million in young Belgian star Charles De Ketelaere. The former Club Brugge midfielder has struggled since moving, and speculation suggests that Milan could be open to letting him go temporarily. Either that or they need to add another player with a similar profile and remain available to renew their interest in Ziyech.

Milan were reportedly willing to pay a sizeable price for the 29-year-old Chelsea star but may now consider bringing him on loan initially. Ziyech’s performances have not been good since the start of the year, which may have made Milan slightly wary of spending considerable amounts.

As was the case in the summer, Ziyech could remain open to leaving Chelsea and joining Milan in January. He will fit Stefano Pioli’s system and provide a spark to their final third activities. The 29-year-old Chelsea star could prove a good addition, considering the Rossoneri like to play with tall forwards.

Chelsea would be open to selling him outright at the next available opportunity, despite his contract lasting until 2025. They will hope for good performances from Ziyech in the temporary spell, which could turn into a permanent transfer in the summer.
