Hakim Ziyech is struggling for relevance in the Chelsea squad, as his game time has steadily reduced this year. Similar tensions evolved in the summer under former boss Thomas Tuchel as the Blues were ready to let him leave.
The Blues wanted a permanent transfer for Ziyech, and AC Milan remained linked with the 29-year-old Chelsea star. While the Rossoneri chased the Moroccan playmaker until the last few days, they were unwilling to pay a hefty price tag for a player his age.
Instead, they invested €32 million in young Belgian star Charles De Ketelaere. The former Club Brugge midfielder has struggled since moving, and speculation suggests that Milan could be open to letting him go temporarily. Either that or they need to add another player with a similar profile and remain available to renew their interest in Ziyech.
Milan were reportedly willing to pay a sizeable price for the 29-year-old Chelsea star but may now consider bringing him on loan initially. Ziyech’s performances have not been good since the start of the year, which may have made Milan slightly wary of spending considerable amounts.
