La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on in-form Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka and will monitor him at the World Cup.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Bukayo Saka has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are closely monitoring the progress of the in-form Arsenal attacker on the club and international levels.

Bukayo Saka is a rare recent example of Arsenal’s Hale End academy producing a pivotal figure for the first-team squad. The 21-year-old passed through the youth divisions of Greenford Celtic and Watford before graduating to Arsenal’s senior side. And he has gone from strength to strength in the last four years.

The English international is enjoying a solid 2022/23 campaign, managing seven goals and seven assists in 27 appearances. At the same time, Saka is a critical figure for the Three Lions and has started his campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a bang. And his performances have captured the attention of Real Madrid.

The reigning La Liga champions are constantly searching the market for solutions to ensure smooth transitions of the first-team squad. And they are currently scouring for ways to replace the underperforming Eden Hazard. In addition, Marco Asensio also faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid.

The Spaniard might still sign a new contract if talks between him and Real Madrid progress well. But there seems to be no way back for Hazard at the Santiago Bernabeu despite his recent comments. Saka has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, with his versatility being his greatest asset.

But Arsenal will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of the 21-year-old if the Merengues make an approach. The English international is the face of Arsenal’s project under Mikel Arteta and will spearhead their attack in the coming decade. And the Gunners are reportedly confident of tying him to a new long-term contract.

Recent reports have also claimed that Saka is committed to Arsenal and ready to sign a new deal. So Real Madrid might falter in pursuing the in-form attacker if they decide to step up their efforts to sign him.
