Chelsea lead race to sign Arsen Zakharyan

Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly in talks to sign 19-year-old Russian international Arsen Zakharyan.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Arsen Zakharyan is keen on moving to Chelsea. The Blues are currently the favourites to secure the services of the 19-year-old midfielder from Dynamo Moscow.

New owner Todd Boehly has shown a willingness to invest in top young talents as well as established stars since his arrival. And Zakharyan could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for the Blues. Chelsea could certainly use more depth in their midfield, and the 19-year-old will be expected to make an impact during the second half of the season.

The youngster has three goals and six assists for Dynamo Moscow this season, and he can play as an attacking midfielder as well as a wide player. It will be interesting to see if Graham Potter is willing to give him ample game time if he joins Chelsea.

Talks are currently ongoing with the player and his club, with the 19-year-old Russian international confirming the same. And it remains to be seen whether the Chelsea can secure a reasonable agreement with the parties involved.

“Talks are ongoing, it’s not something completed yet but he’s one of the talents that Chelsea want to sign for the future,” Romano said to Caught Offside.

“There are discussions ongoing on both the player and club side; Chelsea are the favourites to sign him, but deal is not at final stages yet.”

The player has been desperate for moving away from Russia for a while now and there have been rumours that he tried to secure Armenian citizenship in order to facilitate a move to the Premier League.

Zakharyan is regarded as a prodigious talent, and the Chelsea fans will be excited to see their new signing in action if the deal goes through. It is fair to assume that the Blues have the resources to pull off the move. They have recently stepped up their efforts to secure his services.

Chelsea are fighting for a place in the top four, and they will hope to make January signings that can help them finish the season strongly. It will be interesting to see if the 19-year-old Russian international is one of the signings.
