Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Milan Skriniar from Serie A giants Inter Milan, with Chelsea and Liverpool also interested.

According to a report from 90min, Manchester City have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign Milan Skriniar. The Premier League champions are looking to take advantage of the player’s contract situation at Inter Milan and sign the 27-year-old on a bargain.

Skriniar will be a free agent at the end of this season, and he has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool. All three clubs could use a centre-back, and Skriniar is one of the best in his position. The 27-year-old could improve them instantly.

Furthermore, the fact that he will potentially be available on a free transfer at the end of the season makes the transfer a no-brainer. Clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Arsenal have also shown interested in Skriniar.

Pep Guardiola could offer Skriniar the chance to join a hugely ambitious club where he will be fighting for major trophies every year. Furthermore, Manchester City will be able to offer him a lucrative contract as well.

The report from 90min claims that Inter Milan want to keep the 27-year-old for the long term. But the Serie A giants have not been able to agree on a contract extension with him yet. It will be interesting to see if things change in the coming months. The player can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January, so Inter will have to act fast.

The Serie A club will not be willing to sell the player midway through the season. But losing him as a free agent in the summer would be quite a blow for them It remains to be seen whether Manchester City can tempt them into a January sale with a lucrative offer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea need a long-term successor for Thiago Silva. And Skriniar would be a superb fit. He can play in a back four as well as a back there and would be an ideal addition to Graham Potter’s defensive unit.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, they could use an upgrade on Joe Gomez. The Slovakian international is certainly a better defender, and he is at the peak of his powers. The 27-year-old could challenge Konate for a place in the starting lineup alongside Virgil van Dijk. Joel Matip has been injury prone lately, and Klopp could use some depth in that department.
