Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old French attacker Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach.

According to a report from Fussball Transfers, Marcus Thuram is on the radar of Liverpool. The Premier League giants are looking to add more quality and depth to their side by signing the 25-year-old French international.

Thuram will be out of contract at the end of this season, and German champions Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on him as well. The Bavarian giants want to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, and Thuram is an alternative if they fail to land the England international.

The French international has been in impressive form this season, and he has 13 goals to his name across all competitions. Furthermore, Thuram is capable of playing as a wide forward as well. Jurgen Klopp could certainly use someone like him in the final third.

Currently, Mohamed Salah is the only reliable goalscorer at Liverpool. Darwin Nunez has done reasonably well since joining the club, but he will need time to adapt before he can hit top form. Apart from his goalscoring ability, Thuram’s versatility will be an asset for Liverpool next season if they manage to sign him.

Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be a transfer masterstroke from Julian Ward and the Reds. Thuram has the technical and physical attributes to thrive in English football, and someone like Klopp could help him improve further. He has the potential to develop into a top-class forward.

The 25-year-old will be able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs in January. And Liverpool could look to make their move and secure his services then.

Alternatively, they could pay a nominal fee for the French international and sign him permanently in January. The Reds are struggling to get into the top four, and a couple of intelligent additions could really turn their season around in January. Thuram is about to his peak and he could give his best years to the Merseyside outfit.
