Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident of tying talisman Harry Kane down to a new long-term deal amid Bayern Munich links.

According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to persuade their talisman and club legend Harry Kane to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract and wants to iron out an agreement over fresh terms in early 2023.

A Tottenham Hotspur academy product, Kane has been scoring goals for fun since becoming a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s team during the 2014/15 season.

He has been the league’s best striker for the better part of the past half-a-decade and has three Premier League Golden Boots to show for his tremendous consistency. The Spurs goal machine is third on the list with 192 goals in the English top-flight, only behind Wayne Rooney (208) and Alan Shearer (260).

However, despite all the individual accolades, trophies have often eluded the England captain, with him still on the hunt for his first trophy, much to his dismay, since this has kept him from being mentioned in the same breath as global superstars like Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema.

This trophy drought has led to him being linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur a number of times over the years. He was heavily tipped to link up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City ahead of the 2021/22 campaign when the Sky Blues were looking for a new front-man.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have earmarked the England captain as Lewandowski’s replacement and could make a move for the England skipper next summer when he has just a year left on his deal in north London.

As per German media reports, the Bavarians are willing to pay £88 million to sign the centre-forward, while Chelsea are also showing fresh interest in the prolific Englishman. Football Insider has even claimed that Kane is stalling new contract talks and is prepared to set aside the chance to become the Premier League’s all-time leading goal-scorer in favour of silverware in Germany.

With talk over Kane’s future continuing to do the rounds, a fresh report from 90min suggests that Spurs remain confident about renewing terms with their prized asset.

The report adds that Spurs believe Kane would want to solidify his legendary status at the club and will stay put, albeit that is unlikely to happen until after the World Cup. Ideally, the Lilywhites are planning to get the deal done by early 2023.

Despite their optimism, much will depend on Tottenham’s performance in the rest of the campaign and Antonio Conte’s own long-term future at the club.

After securing their best-ever start to a Premier League season, the wheels have kind of fallen off in recent weeks with a humiliating defeat in the north London derby against Arsenal, followed by losses against Manchester United and, most recently, high-flying Newcastle United.

Kane, for his part, remains focused on Tottenham despite the widespread speculation and has continued his red-hot scoring form, netting 11 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, 10 of which have arrived in 12 Premier League outings.
