Arsenal can look to sign Samuel Chukwueze next summer as Mikel Arteta seeks players that would become part of his rebuild process.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal target Samuel Chukwueze could be available for €40 million next summer. The Gunners are keen to sign the winger from La Liga outfit Villarreal as Mikel Arteta eyes players that add quality to his squad. Arsenal remain linked with a host of wingers, and the club will pursue a few in the coming windows.
Arsenal earmarked their rebuilding project under the acute eye of Mikel Arteta two summers ago. After making key signings such as Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, and Martin Odegaard, the Gunners added more in the window before this season.
While those players have made the starting eleven a strong unit, there is much more needed to bolster squad depth. Arteta’s men currently lead the charts in the Premier League. But there are concerns their title challenge might crumble without quality players on the bench.
The likes of Marquinhos and Reiss Nelson still need to bring consistency to their game and help Arsenal in cup and Europa League games. Arteta has relied heavily on Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka to fortify the wing positions, while Emile Smith Rowe’s early injury has not helped matters.
Hence, Arsenal are looking for wingers who could add some much-needed quality off the bench and ease the burden on Saka and Martinelli. The club could seek such players in January but may add a few more in the summer. Young stars like Yeremy Pino and Mykhaylo Mudryk feature alongside others.
Recently, Marcus Thuram emerged as a target for January, while Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Orlando City’s Facundo Torres. Other more experienced names like Wilfried Zaha have also been considered, but Arteta might go with a player of a younger age profile.
Samuel Chukwueze’s name is the latest on Arsenal’s shortlist. The 23-year-old La Liga winger has proved his worth this season with commendable displays off the bench. He is the kind of player Arteta seeks, and the Nigerian could be available for €40 million next summer.
Aston Villa are also interested in the winger, considering Unai Emery wants to reunite with players he knows all too well from his time in La Liga. The lure of Arsenal could prove strong in the chase. However, €40 million would be a steep price next summer, considering Chukwueze will have a year left on his deal.
Chukwueze may still need the desired stats in his game, but his playing style appeases Arteta and his vision for this Arsenal team. Whether the Gunners seek him or other players remains the question. Chukwueze is emerging on the radars of many clubs, and a departure next summer seems imminent.
