Manchester United, Crystal Palace keeping tabs on Ben Brereton Diaz

Manchester United are interested in Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, who also happens to be a target for Crystal Palace.

According to 90min, Manchester United are monitoring the development of Ben Brereton Diaz. The Red Devils might bring the Championship sensation in the winter transfer window to improve their goalscoring record.

The 23-year-old has been in phenomenal form since last season and has attracted a whole lot of suitors despite his stint in the second tier. Manchester United have looked at different strikers as Erik ten Hag has been on the lookout for a perfect number nine who could resolve their crisis in front of the goal.

Despite some heavy deployment in the attacking third, Manchester United have not really terrorised the opposition defenders. So ten Hag wants to add a fierce striker on top of the current attacking contingent.

Rumours regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future have intensified since the Tottenham Hotspur incident. And the Portuguese international could cut short his Manchester United reunion as early as in January.

Ronaldo’s departure would further vacate space for a potential arrival, and the Blackburn Rovers striker could be that man. Brereton Diaz has followed up his performance from last season and has already hit nine goals in the Championship this term.

Crystal Palace are also believed to be in the race for the talented striker. Wilfried Zaha’s existing deal will expire next summer, and it would be a steal if the Londoners manage to replace Zaha with one of the most promising strikers. It won’t be an easy task given Manchester United’s interest in the 23-year-old. But Patrick Vieira will try to use his resources to grab a deal for the forward.

But there is a big question mark whether the club would be able to hold on to their asset until the end of this current campaign at least. Brereton Diaz will be free to negotiate terms with other clubs in January as his current contract is slated to expire next summer.

Apart from Manchester United and Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United are also interested in Brereton Diaz. So with interest in the 23-year-old striker escalating, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for him.
