Newcastle United have put defender Jamaal Lascelles on the market and would demand a fee of £10 million from interested parties.
As per Football Insider, Newcastle are ready to offload Jamaal Lascelles and will try to cash in on the player. Lascelles has fallen down the pecking order this season and will enter the final year of his deal next summer.
Newcastle have undergone a massive overhaul since their takeover and Eddie Howe has overseen a rapid transformation since the last season. The former Bournemouth manager has been given the licence to attract his kind of players and the outcome has been pretty fascinating as they have breached the top four with some exciting results in their bag.
The journey of being a title contender from relegations strugglers has not been easy and the manager has had to take some cruel but effective decisions and shunning Lascelles out was one of them.
The 28-year-old’s only start coincided with Newcastle’s only defeat which came against Liverpool and it might have played a role in keeping him out of the starting lineup.
The Magpies brought in Sven Botman this summer and the Dutch defender has found a way to shake up things in the middle of the defence. He has formed a formidable partnership with Fabian Schar which has been the bedrock of their airtight defence.
Lascelles won’t have a dearth of suitors as the 28-year-old still has a lot of football left in him. The English defender is expected to attract a lot of interested parties and he might leave the club in January if a suitable offer arrives in Tyneside.
Newcastle are working towards elevating the club to match the levels of Manchester City and Liverpool and such a move would come definitely come at the expense of a few sad goodbyes.
Lascelles is technically still the club captain but he won’t accept the fact very long that he is now the fourth-choice defender in this very new reign. The player has had some great moments in his Newcastle career and perhaps the time has come to accept a fresh new challenge.
