Manchester United and Manchester City are ready to engage in a transfer battle for Red Bull Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, also a target for Barcelona.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City and Manchester United are gearing up for a challenge to land Dani Olmo. But that won’t be an easy task, given Barcelona’s interest in the RB Leipzigs attacking midfielder.

Olmo arrived in Bundesliga in January 2020 when Leipzig came calling for his service. The 24-year-old has been a pivotal part of their setup and will also be taking part at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as Spain manager Luis Enrique is believed to be an admirer of the player.

Despite his efficiency, he has not attracted much attention surprisingly as Leipzig have managed to keep hold of him as of now. But Olmo will be the subject of some intense transfer speculation next summer. And it remains to be seen how the Bundesliga outfit tackle the situation.

Manchester United have been on a rollercoaster ride as Erik ten Hag has steadied the boat as of now. The Red Devils have put together a sequence of an eight-match unbeaten run and are knocking on the door of the top four.

But Bruno Fernandes’s underwhelming form could be a matter of concern as Manchester United have a pretty tough road ahead. Donny van de Beek has not really jumped to the occasion to grab his chances. And recent reports have claimed that Manchester United might cash in on him amid interest from Valencia and others.

It leaves ten Hag very thin in the attacking midfield department, and Olmo could be an alternative if Bruno Fernandes’s inconsistency gets to an exaggerated form. As for Manchester City, in Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, they have two of the most influential performers in the Premier League.

But Pep Guardiola is aware of the stiff competition these days and wants to ease the burden on the players. Having played for the Spanish national team, Olmo should not have any problem dealing with the Guardiola’s system. And should he arrive at the Etihad Stadium, he could surpass the expectations at Manchester City pretty soon.

Barcelona have also been hot on the heels of the player. But their recent financial debacle have tied their hands. However the Blaugrana are determined to restore their pride and could use the player to break the shackles.

Olmo will enter the final year of his contract next year, and it would be a good opportunity for Leipzig to earn some fast money by agreeing on a move for him. It will be interesting to see who among Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona will win the race to sign him.
