Chelsea considering January move for Adrien Rabiot

Chelsea have set their sights on Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as they are eyeing some midfield acquisitions in January.

As per Fichajes, Chelsea are warming up an offer for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in January. The Blues have looked at some midfielders who could add more dynamism to their side, and the French international has emerged as a surprise option.

The 27-year-old French midfielder has had lots of ups and downs in his three-year stint in Turin as he has not really hit that spark which made the Italian giants sign him on a free transfer in 2019.

But Rabiot has shown flashes of brilliance this season, as he has been picked on a regular basis by Massimiliano Allegri. And the midfielder has returned the favour by producing some eye-catching performances in the middle of the pitch.

At a time when his team has struggled to grind out positive results, the 27-year-old has been a shining light for his side. Manchester United were locked in a unique transfer battle as they pushed for his signing in the summer.

Juventus were more than happy to part ways with the player, who they thought to have passed his prime. The Red Devils were ready to pay a transfer fee but refused to budge on his mother’s exorbitant wage demands.

Manchester backed out from the transfer and went on to sign Casemiro, who is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of this decade, from Real Madrid.

Chelsea do not seem to have any ripple effects over the failed transfer and could fulfil the 27-year-old’s demand for better compensation than his current wage. They will hope it does not turn out to be another Saul Niguez saga after the Spaniard hardly had any minutes to justify his presence after securing a loan move from Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea are unlikely to have any competition for his signature, and it could be a smooth negotiation if both parties agree to a cut-price fee. Despite Rabiot playing regularly, the Bianconeri do not have any intention to extend his stay and would be looking to cash in on the player as much as they can. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can land the French international in January.
