Barcelona will look to beat Real Madrid to the signature of Vitor Roque as they seek an agreement for the Brazilian prodigy.
According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Vitor Roque is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants want an agreement to sign the 17-year-old Athletico Paranaense striker, a target for Real Madrid and Juventus.
Vitor Roque is one of the most prodigious young strikers in South America, with his stock rising since joining Athletico Paranaense. The Brazilian whizkid spent his formative years with America Mineiro and Cruzeiro and made an impression in age-group football in his nation.
The 17-year-old joined Athletico Paranaense earlier this year and has represented the first team in the ongoing season. Roque has a solid record for Furacao, amassing six goals and three assists in 1468 minutes of game time. The player’s exploits have not gone unnoticed either, with Real Madrid and Barcelona setting their sights on him.
Vitor Roque has been on Real Madrid’s radar for much of 2022. And the interest is understandable, considering Karim Benzema is in the twilight of his glittering career. While the Frenchman has been in the form of his life for four years, he is well into his thirties. So Real Madrid will need a succession plan for Benzema.
The 17-year-old is thus a viable target for Real Madrid, with the Merengues also having a few other candidates on their wishlist. Meanwhile, the reigning La Liga champions now face stiff competition from Barcelona for Vitor Roque.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have a few common targets in South America, including Endrick. And with recent reports claiming that the Palmeiras wonderkid wants to join Los Blancos, Barcelona can turn to alternatives. The Athletico Paranaense attacker has thus emerged on the Catalan club’s radar.
With Robert Lewandowski on the wrong side of 30 and in the twilight of his illustrious career, the Blaugrana will need a long-term successor in a few years. Roque is thus an option worth considering. And according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will seek an agreement to sign the 17-year-old.
Apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid, Vitor Roque is also a target for Juventus. And it will be interesting to see if the Bianconeri can usurp the two La Liga heavyweights to land the 17-year-old prodigy.
