Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has signed a contract extension with Los Blancos, which will keep him at the club until 2027.

According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Vinicius Junior has extended his Real Madrid deal, which was due to run out in 2024. The three-year extension will not keep the 22-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2027.

There have been rumours of a potential extension for a while now. Furthermore, the player was on wages of around €3 million per year at the club. But the extension sees the talismanic forward receive a deserved pay rise. He will now earn €8 million per year at Real Madrid.

The Brazilian international joined Real Madrid for a fee of around €45 million back in 2018 and his value as tripled since his arrival. Vinicius is undoubtedly one of the best players at the club, and it makes sense for Los Blancos to secure his long term future.

The talented winger has established himself as a key player for Carlo Ancelotti and helped Real Madrid win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season. Vinicius scored the winning goal against Liverpool in the final of the Champions League and ended the season with 22 goals and 20 assists.

The 22-year-old has started the 2022/23 season in top form as well. And he has eight goals and five assists to his name so far. Currently, he is the top scorer for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian forward has all the tools to develop into a superstar in future, and it is paramount that Real Madrid hold on to him for as long as possible. Vinicius is yet to enter his peak years and is likely to get even better barring any unfortunate injury blows.

Apparently, the player was on PSG’s radar, with the French club’s former sporting director Leonardo obsessed with the player, according to AS. However, Vinicius was always keen on staying at Real Madrid and conveyed his decision to the club before signing the extension.

His decision to commit his long-term future to the club will come as a major boost to the fans and the dressing room. The talismani Brazilian forward will now look to help Real Madrid defend their La Liga and Champions League crowns this season.
