Vinicius Jr. is on the verge of committing his long-term future to Real Madrid after reaching a principle agreement to renew terms with the 21-year-old.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Vinicius Jr. will commit his long-term future to Real Madrid. The 21-year-old forward will sign a new contract with Los Blancos ahead of the 2022/23 season after reaching a principle agreement to renew terms at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Vinicius Jr. has gone from strength to strength since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo in July 2018. The Brazilian international arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu rated as one of the most promising young attackers in his homeland but initially blew hot and cold at the Spanish club despite showing enough promise and potential.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival has transformed Vinicius’s career, with the 21-year-old blossoming into a talismanic figure for Real Madrid. Vinicius was top-class in the recently-concluded campaign, as he amassed 22 goals and 20 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions, including the match-winning goal in the UEFA Champions League final.

The Brazilian forward was thus the most productive under-21 player in Europe, and it is hardly surprising that Real Madrid will soon reward him with a contract worthy of his status in the team. The renewal has been long overdue, considering Vinicius is one of the lowest-paid players at Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old forward currently earns €3 million per year at Real Madrid. But the Spanish giants are reportedly ready to treble his salary, which will be in line with his newfound stature of being a pivotal figure at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr. have now reached a principle agreement over the bumper new deal, with the Brazilian forward ready to commit his long-term future to Los Blancos. The impending renewal is a step in the right direction for Real Madrid, especially considering they failed to secure the services of Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid will follow up on Vinicius’s renewal by handing deals to several other star performers, with Eder Militao and Rodrygo Goes also in line to sign new contracts. As for Vinicius, the duration of the 21-year-old’s renewal is still unclear, although Fabrizio Romano suggested he will commit the next four years of his career to Real Madrid.
