La Liga champions Real Madrid will reportedly ask for €15 million for Alvaro Odriozola amid interest from Serie A giants Juventus.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Alvaro Odriozola is the subject of interest from Juventus over a possible move in the January transfer window. Real Madrid will demand €15 million to part ways with the out-of-favour 26-year-old defender.

Alvaro Odriozola was one of the most highly-rated full-backs in Spain when he joined Real Madrid from Real Sociedad in July 2018. But the Spaniard has struggled to progress as well as he or Los Blancos would have liked in the last four years. His best phase came away from Real Madrid when he was on loan at Fiorentina last season.

The 26-year-old is yet to feature for Real Madrid this season, with Carlo Ancelotti preferring Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez over him. And Odriozola will likely leave Real Madrid in 2023, with the Merengues looking to recoup €15 million from his sale. The player has a few suitors, particularly in Serie A, with Juventus keen on signing him.

The Serie A giants have endured a horrific start to the 2022/23 season. Massimiliano Allegri’s men are currently eighth in the Italian top flight. And Juventus will go out of the UEFA Champions League in the group stage following the defeat to Benfica this week.

Allegri needs to reinforce several areas of his squad in the January transfer window, right-back being one of them. The Juventus manager has mostly utilised Juan Cuadrado as the right wing-back this season. But the veteran Colombian wide man is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the end of his career.

So Allegri has to refresh his right-back options, with Odriozola emerging as a viable target. The 26-year-old will not be a costly acquisition either, considering Real Madrid will demand €15 million for him. But amid Juventus’s financial issues, it is unclear if they can afford a permanent transfer in January.

It will be interesting to see if the Serie A giants propose an initial loan deal before signing Odriozola permanently next summer. For now, the 26-year-old does not seem to have a future at Real Madrid, who will look to recoup €15 million from his sale.
