Napoli have refused to entertain any transfer plea for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia handing both Liverpool and Manchester City a severe jolt.

According to Football Italia, as relayed by HITC, Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has rejected all transfer rumours regarding the transfer of the Georgian winger.

Kvaratskhelia has taken very little time to become a formidable member of this Napoli side which has been creating ripples across the world. The Italian giants are yet to lose a match in all competitions and have shown no mercy to their opponents.

The 21-year-old has become a pivotal part of the Napoli set up but the journey hasn’t been smooth for the youngster. The Georgian winger who has the ability to play across the front three, almost saw his career curtailed by an untimely war as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine saw Ukrainian football being suspended.

The player was relieved of his Rubin Kazan contract and Dinamo Batumi grabbed him. But Napoli took a bet on the player as they splashed £10 million on the player and since then he has grabbed eyeballs.

Manchester City are thought to be interested in the player as he looks like an ideal option for Pep Guardiola. His silky smooth skills make him a sensational prospect while his capability to combine with other attacking players has been deemed as a rare quality these days.

Despite only signing him this summer, the Naples-based club is ready to offer him improved terms to fend off suitors. City will likely invest in attacking players and the winger could be an option for the reigning English champions.

But Napoli’s director has ruled out any possibility of the player being put on sale this summer.

“He is doing very well, as are many. There’s a long way until the transfer window opens, but there is absolutely nothing in it. We are very happy and we want to keep doing well.

“Is Kvaratskhelia off the market? Absolutely, he is not for sale.”

Liverpool are also believed to be hunting the player down as Jurgen Klopp will sign at least one attacker this coming summer. The departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich exposed their vulnerabilities while their over-reliance on Mohamed Salah has disrupted their balance.

Luis Diaz’s long-term injury concerns have derailed their plans and a move for Kvaratskhelia would certainly be an enticing approach for the Reds.

These are the sort of players at these sort of prices we need to be decisive in getting if we are to operate within FSG’s ‘sell to generate any sort of transfer funds’ policy and have a hope of having quality and depth in the squad.

Moisés Caicedo at £4.5m and Enzo Fernandez at £10.8m should have been two others that were snared.
