Arsenal are following Yeremy Pino’s situation at Villarreal, as Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his squad

According to The Sun, Arsenal are keen on strengthening their squad in January with a keen focus on attacking wingers. Yeremy Pino is a possible target, as the Gunners keep tabs on the Villarreal star ahead of the next window.

Mikel Arteta has steered Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table and cemented their status as title contenders after 11 matchdays. The Gunners are not clear favourites as Manchester City continues to close in from behind.

While the Gunners have been free of key injuries, a few knocks to Oleksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey earlier in the season exposed their vulnerability. As for the latter, Arsenal are keen on signing Palmeiras star Danilo in January.

Another big concern for Arteta is the lack of wide attacking positions. Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have had a flying start to their season, but there’s a visible lack of cover for those young stars. Marquinhos and Reiss Nelson are not deemed good enough to replace them, meaning a dip into the transfer market seems necessary.

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk is a target, but Arteta may want more than one winger. Yeremy Pino could be a potential name on Arsenal’s list for January as the club continues to keep tabs on the wide man’s situation with Villarreal.

Arsenal considered making a bid in the summer. They never followed up on their interest after switching their attention towards a new midfielder. After Unai Emery’s departure from Villarreal to join Aston Villa, there could be doubts about his long-term stay. He also has interest from other top sides, including Chelsea.

The Gunners hierarchy, including the owners, are open to backing Arteta in the January window. The Arsenal boss might get a sizeable budget to strengthen his squad and push for a Premier League title push. Pino seems like an achievable target.

The report suggests Arsenal could sign both Pino and Mudryk in the window, along with a midfielder. If those players come in, it makes the Gunners a contender for the title, as Arteta would have plenty of squad depth to match their rivals.
