Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes at the end of the season.

According to a report from Goal, Chelsea are looking to solve their midfield problems with the signing of Newcastle United talisman Bruno Guimaraes. However, the Magpies will offer a club-record contract to keep the Brazilian midfielder beyond this season.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined Newcastle United from Lyon back in January. And he has proven to be an exceptional signing for Eddie Howe. Bruno Guimaraes has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and it is no surprise that the top clubs are looking to secure his signature. The midfielder was recently linked with a move to Real Madrid as well.

Newcastle United know that the Brazilian international has the potential to develop into a world-class player. So they are looking to shatter their wage structure to tie him down to a long-term contract. It will be interesting to see if the player is willing to commit his future to the club in the coming weeks.

A player of Bruno Guimaraes’s quality deserves to play in the UEFA Champions League and Newcastle might not be able to provide him with a platform next season. But the 24-year-old has recently insisted that he is happy at St. James’ Park.

In addition, the Magpies have a very ambitious project and the resources to put together a formidable squad. There is no reason why Newcastle United cannot compete in the Champions League in the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to reinforce their midfield at the end of the season. Star midfielder N’Golo Kante has struggled with persistent injury problems, and Jorginho could leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires. Graham Potter is in desperate need of a quality midfielder, and Bruno Guimaraes would be an exceptional signing for Chelsea.

The Brazilian international is well-settled in the Premier League, and he could make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge next season. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle and Chelsea can come to an agreement regarding the player at the end of this season. But it is highly likely that he will remain at St. James’ Park for the foreseeable future.
