Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are reportedly considering signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in 2023.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Adrien Rabiot might leave Juventus as a free agent in the 2023 summer transfer window. And La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will look to sign the 27-year-old midfielder in a Bosman move next year.

Adrien Rabiot is a classic case of unharnessed potential. The French international was brimming with talent when he first burst onto the scene at Paris Saint-Germain. But attitude issues and a lack of consistency have hampered the player, who has been underwhelming for Juventus.

The 27-year-old joined the Serie A giants in a Bosman move three years ago. And while Rabiot has made 139 appearances for Juventus, he has blown hot and cold throughout his stint. The French midfielder could now be ready to leave another club as a free agent. And he does not have a shortage of suitors, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid keen on signing him.

Barcelona showed interest in Rabiot in the summer transfer window before eventually settling on Franck Kessie. But the Catalan giants remain in the market for a midfield reinforcement, with Sergio Busquets in the twilight of his career. In addition, Frenkie de Jong faces an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou, prompting Barcelona to consider signing a midfielder.

Rabiot is thus a viable target for Barcelona, despite his inconsistencies for Juventus. But the Blaugrana will face stiff competition from La Liga rival Atletico Madrid in the race to sign the 27-year-old French international.

Like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid will be in the market for a midfielder next summer. That is because Saul Niguez is a shell of a player he once was, while Rodrigo De Paul has blown hot and cold since arriving from Udinese. So Rabiot has emerged as an option worth considering for Atletico Madrid.

Several other European bigwigs, including Chelsea, are also interested in Rabiot. Former club Paris Saint-Germain might also be in the equation. But Barcelona and Atletico Madrid might be appealing destinations for the French midfielder. Meanwhile, Juventus will look to tie him down to a new contract, hoping to keep him at the Allianz Stadium for the foreseeable future.
