Chelsea and Juventus could be set for a transfer deal that will see Adrien Rabiot and Hakim Ziyech swap clubs.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Premier League side Chelsea and Italian behemoths Juventus might be involved in a deal that could see Hakim Ziyech and Adrien Rabiot swap clubs.

The French midfielder has been arguably Juventus’s best player in the middle of the park this season. With four goals, he is joint second in the Bianconeri goalscorers list this season, only behind Dusan Vlahovic.

His contract at the Allianz Stadium is up at the end of the current season, and there are no developments yet on him penning an extension. While Max Allegri certainly rates the Frenchman, his future in Turin is far from assured.

With Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech also on the market, there could be an opportunity for the Blues and the Bianconeri to mutually benefit. The winger has struggled to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge, and little has changed following the arrival of Graham Potter. He could be on his way out soon amidst interest from Italy.

Juventus could join AC Milan and throw their hat into the ring for the 29-year-old. Swapping him for Rabiot will not just see them avoid losing the Frenchman for a free but also land themselves an able winger seeking a chance for redemption. Given Juventus’s lack of imagination in attack, Ziyech could offer them something different.

Signing Rabiot would give Chelsea a proven player with much experience at the top level. However, his major flaw remains inconsistency in his performances over the last few years. The move to Juventus has failed to see him build upon the potential shown while at Paris Saint-Germain, and he will have little leeway to be a passenger at Chelsea.

With N’Golo Kante and Jorginho’s contracts being up next summer, the Blues will need to bring in central midfielders who can perform from the word go. While Rabiot can make up the numbers, it is questionable if he can put in a consistent shift week-in, week-out.

A move to Stamford Bridge could see him have a better shot at competing for trophies. Juventus are miles away from competing against the top sides in Europe and aren’t the top dog in the Serie A anymore. Chelsea, meanwhile, under new ownership have huge ambitions. Should the potential move click, it could be a win-win for the club and the player.
