Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly identified Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as a potential target.
Trevoh Chaloba has done well for Chelsea this season. And his performances have caught the attention of Serie A giants Inter Milan, who are looking to bring him in to reinforce their defensive department, as per Calciomercato.
Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season, with Chelsea coincidentally among his suitors. And the Serie A giants will have to bring in a quality replacement if the Slovak decides to move on. Skriniar has a contract with the club until the summer of 2023, and the two parties have not managed to agree on an extension yet.
If the situation says the same, the Slovakian defender will be able to secure a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs when the transfer window opens in January. He could then move on as a free agent at the end of the season.
Ideally, Inter Milan will not want to lose a player of his calibre on a free transfer. And it remains to be seen whether they can convince the defender to sign an extension.
In the event Skriniar departs at the end of the season, Chalobah could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition. The defender has started five Premier League games for Chelsea so far, and he has been quite impressive on the right-hand side of a back three.
The young Chelsea defender is versatile enough to operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a right-back. Chalobah’s versatility will be an added bonus for Inter Milan if they manage to secure his services.
That said, Chalobah is enjoying regular game time at Stamford Bridge, and it would be quite surprising if he decided to leave the west London club any time soon. The player will be focused on continuing his development with regular football at Chelsea, and the Blues are unlikely to sanction his departure either. Chalobah is highly rated at Chelsea, and he has the potential to develop into a top-class defender.
