Liverpool will reportedly compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund sensation Youssoufa Moukoko.
According to a report by Football Insider, Youssoufa Moukoko is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds have joined Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign the 17-year-old prodigy from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Youssoufa Moukoko is one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, with the teenage sensation going from strength to strength at Borussia Dortmund. The 17-year-old was so impressive in age-group football that he forced the Bundesliga to alter a long-standing rule on the minimum age for a player to make his senior league debut.
The German under-21 international became the youngest-ever player in Bundesliga history two years ago. Meanwhile, Moukoko has made a decent start to the 2022/23 season, managing three goals and four assists in 15 appearances. And his performances have captured the attention of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool.
Barcelona will know that Robert Lewandowski is only a short-term solution in the final third. And with the Polish international in the twilight of his career, signing Moukoko will be a step in the right direction. A few other talented young strikers, including Endrick, are on Barcelona’s radar, with Moukoko also a worthwhile candidate.
As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos will need to lay down a succession plan, even though Karim Benzema is in the form of his life. While the French striker won the Ballon d’Or this month, he is well into his thirties. Moukoko has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. But Liverpool’s emergence complicates matters for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the 17-year-old sensation and has closely monitored his progress. The Liverpool manager has close ties at Borussia Dortmund and might use it to his advantage to sign Moukoko from the Bundesliga giants. And with Roberto Firmino on the wrong side of 30, the teenage wonderkid is an option worth considering.

That Moukoko will see his Borussia Dortmund contract run out next summer will also appeal to Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool. But the Bundesliga giants will likely battle hard to extend his stay the Signal Iduna Park beyond the 2022/23 season.
