La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a Bosman move for 17-year-old German whizkid Youssoufa Moukoko.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Youssoufa Moukoko is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible Bosman move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The German whizkid has entered the final year of his contract with Borussia Dortmund, with talks over a renewal yet to progress convincingly.

Youssoufa Moukoko is one of Europe’s most promising young strikers, with the German under-21 international coming leaps and bounds in age-group football in the last few years. The teenage sensation was so impressive that he prompted the Bundesliga to change a long-standing rule to allow him to make an early first-team debut for Borussia Dortmund.

But the 17-year-old is yet to become a regular for the Black and Yellows, partly due to Erling Haaland’s presence last term. However, Moukoko has been in fine form at the onset of the 2022/23 season, managing two goals and two assists in six Bundesliga outings thus far. But the German whizkid has entered the final year of his contract with Borussia Dortmund, which has alerted Real Madrid.

Real Madrid briefly considered signing Moukoko in the summer transfer window before possibly loaning him out to another club. But Los Blancos decided to delay pursuing the 17-year-old to the 2023 summer transfer window, with Carlo Ancelotti satisfied with the options at his disposal after signing Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.

While pushing the pursuit forward by a year is risky, considering many clubs might want to sign a prodigious striker like Moukoko for free, the Merengues fancy their chances. And according to the report by Fichajes, the German wonderkid is a top target for Real Madrid for the 2023 summer transfer window.

With Karim Benzema well into his thirties, Real Madrid will need to lay down a succession plan for the talismanic striker. And while Endrick is another candidate to be a long-term offensive solution for Real Madrid, Moukoko also has the potential to serve Los Blancos for over a decade.

How Moukoko’s talks with Borussia Dortmund progress will be interesting to see for his suitors. For now, the 17-year-old German whizkid seems likely to join Real Madrid, but other clubs might soon join the reigning La Liga champions in the race to sign Moukoko in a Bosman move in 2023.
