La Liga clubs Getafe and Espanyol are reportedly interested in signing Jesus Vallejo from Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jesus Vallejo might leave Real Madrid in the January transfer window. And the Spanish defender has emerged on the radars of two La Liga clubs, with Espanyol and Getafe keen on signing him.

Jesus Vallejo was one of the most promising young defenders in Spain when he joined Real Madrid from Real Zaragoza half a dozen years ago. The 25-year-old also seemed to be a future leader for Los Blancos after captaining Zaragoza while still in his teens. Fast forward to 2022, and the Spaniard is yet to establish a foothold at Real Madrid.

Vallejo has embarked on four loan spells, with his best campaigns coming at Granada. But despite being impressive during his temporary stints away from the Santiago Bernabeu, the Spanish defender has not secured a spot as a regular for Real Madrid. He was also decent in his few appearances last season. But Vallejo is yet to feature for Real Madrid this term.

The 25-year-old is unsurprisingly frustrated with his situation at Real Madrid. And a departure in the January transfer window might be on the cards for Vallejo. He has no shortage of suitors either, with two La Liga keen on signing him, those being Espanyol and Getafe.

At Espanyol, Diego Martinez has four centre-backs at his disposal. But Leandro Cabrera and Sergi Gomez are on the wrong side of 30, thus prompting the interest from the Catalan outfit. Vallejo is thus a viable target for Espanyol.

As for Getafe, the Madrilenian outfit might be in for a relegation battle this season. And with the centre-backs not being up to the mark thus far, Quique Sanchez Flores might ask for a January signing. Vallejo has thus emerged on Getafe’s radar. But the Azulones have already signed one player on loan from Real Madrid, which might complicate matters.
