Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma as their search for attacking reinforcements continues.

As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are chasing the signing of Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma and could make their move in January. They are ready to offer around €40 million to secure his services.

Danjuma has been on the shortlist of a number of big clubs, but Villarreal have not really received a firm approach in the recent past. The Dutch attacker enjoyed a stellar campaign last season netting ten and assisting another three goals for the Yellow Submarine in La Liga.

He has endured a tough time due to injuries this term but recorded a brace on his return against Osasuna. Danjuma’s goals helped Villarreal register a much-more important victory, but the club now fear some fierce competition regarding his transfer in January.

With Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech craving for more game time, the doors of Stamford Bridge could be opened for the suitors in the winter transfer window. Both players have attracted clubs in Serie A, including AC Milan.

Apart from the duo, Chelsea have very limited options, and Graham Potter wants to add an experienced face to his squad. The 25-year-old had a brief spell at Bournemouth in the Premier League and Championship and was involved in 22 goals in the 2020/21 season in the English second tier.

So Danjuma is well acclimatised to the English conditions. And should he arrive in west London, Chelsea could have ready-made resources to be used for them. As per Fichajes, the Blues might offer around €40 million to secure his services.

Villarreal are well within the reach of a place in the top four, and Unai Emery would feel disrupted if the Dutch international leaves the club in the midst of a transitional phase. West Ham United also looked at the player in the summer as David Moyes wanted more options at his disposal. It remains to be seen whether they renew their interest in January.

Capable of playing anywhere across the front three, Danjuma will add more depth to Chelsea’s attacks as, except for Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Potter does not seem to have enough options at this moment.

A fee in the region of €40 million should be enough to negotiate a transfer, but Villarreal would try to poach as much money as they can from the Premier League giants.
