Both Chelsea and Manchester City are ready to engage in a stiff battle for the services of Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka.
According to reports, Chelsea have registered their interest in midfielder Stanislav Lobotka who also is a target of Manchester City. The hardworking midfielder has been a man of many fronts and could be interested in a move.
Lobotka appeared in 23 games last season in the Serie A but in this campaign, he has already been assured of a bigger role and has been involved in all nine matches scoring one and assisting one so far.
The combative midfielder has had some brilliant spells of football and has already caught the eyes of Premier League biggies this season. Chelsea are ideally positioned to bring a midfielder and they could be benefited if the Slovakian international decides to hop on a new adventure.
Manchester City brought in Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United to relieve Rodri of pressure but persistent injury problems have been a major issue in his brief City career. City don’t feel the urge to be highly involved in the chase but Lobotka’s superior technical qualities would provide an edge to the English champions.
The 27-year-old is under a long-term contract but Napoli are aware of his potential and have offered fresh terms to renew his stay. The player hasn’t committed totally to the cause and has been demanding a premium over the proposed wage.
The Italian giants have tabled a contract worth €2.5 million but the player has refused to accept a proposal lower than €3m. Talks are ongoing and both parties are committed to reaching an amicable solution.
Chelsea have some stopgap in their midfield department as both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho will be out of contract next season while Juventus loanee Denis Zakaria is yet to play a minute for his new club.
A defensive midfielder is high on the priority for the Blues so a move for Lobotka might sound pretty obvious for the West Londoners.
