Arsenal are in advanced talks to tie Gabriel Martinelli down to a new deal after the Brazilian’s impressive start to the season.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are in advanced talks to extend Gabriel Martinelli’s contract. The in-form Brazilian attacker’s current deal expires in 2024. But Gunners reportedly carry an option to extend it until 2026, which gives them some room in negotiations.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka could be considered two of the most improved players during Mikel Arteta’s era at Arsenal. The Brazilian international has stamped his authority in the first team with scintillating displays, particularly this season.

The road has been tough for Martinelli since Arteta’s arrival. The 21-year-old only became a regular midway through last season but has not looked back since then. Some of his sharp performances have also earned him a place in the Brazilian national squad during recent call-ups.

Most recently, Martinelli put in a star showing as Arsenal beat Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday. He already has four goals and two assists this term. And Arteta has already reiterated the club’s intention to extend his contract, wherein they are progressing towards steadily.

Recent reports have pointed towards interest from rival clubs, but Arsenal are seemingly relaxed about his situation. That does not mean they will be waiting for long before handing Martinelli a new contract. They are reportedly in advanced talks with the in-form 21-year-old attacker’s camp to find a solution.

The Gunners are reportedly looking to tie down Martinelli, Saka and William Saliba to new deals. With the Brazilian, they are willing to offer a contract until 2026 with the option of extending it by a further season. The new contract will come with a significant pay rise.

Arsenal are seemingly confident of getting negotiations over the line and finding a solution to extend the Brazilian’s deal. Once done, it will be a significant step in the right direction for the Gunners and Arteta regarding their squad building.

Next up, Arsenal will hope to see Saka and Saliba extend their deals at the club. Both those stars are in the final two years of their contracts, but alternate reports claim that Arsenal have extension options on those contracts.
