Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly emerged as a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And talks are already underway regarding a potential move.

The 33-year-old returned to the Premier League after a short stint with Spanish club Barcelona. But he has not been able to hit top form at Stamford Bridge yet. It will be interesting to see if the Blues are willing to part ways with the experienced goalscorer at the end of the season amid interest from PSG.

Aubameyang is 33 years old, and he is in his twilight years. It is certain that the player is not going to improve any further and it might thus make sense for Chelsea to get rid of him and invest in a talented young player. Apparently, PSG want to add more quality to their front three, and they have identified the Chelsea player as a target.

Meanwhile, the Chelsea attacker is thought to be open to the move as well, and a reunion with Christophe Galtier could be tempting for the player. The two worked together during the time at Saint-Etienne, and it remains to be seen whether Galtier can help get the deal over the line for PSG.

PSG wanted to sign a quality goalscorer during the summer transfer window, but they failed in their efforts. And with Lionel Messi on former club Barcelona’s radar, bolstering the attack by signing Aubameyang might be the right way forward for PSG.

Chelsea paid a fee of around €20 million for the experienced goalscorer, and they will be looking to recoup as much as possible for him. A club like PSG have no shortage of resources, and they should be able to pay the asking price for Aubameyang.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea to reunite with his former manager Thomas Tuchel. But Chelsea relieved the German tactician of his duties soon after. With Graham Potter in charge of Chelsea, it is hardly surprising that the striker is being linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge.

Potter built an exceptional squad at Brighton & Hove Albion with young players and he might be looking through the same at Chelsea. Aubameyang remains a quality player and showed his quality against AC Milan this week. But he is likely to regress in the future, and Chelsea are better off planning for his succession.
