Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are reportedly considering signing Toni Kroos from Real Madrid in a late summer move.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Toni Kroos is the subject of interest from Liverpool over a late move in the ongoing transfer window. But Real Madrid will unlikely sanction the sale of the German midfield maestro at this stage of the summer.

Toni Kroos is one of the best midfielders of his generation, excelling at every club he has turned out for thus far in his career. The 32-year-old first burst into the limelight during his stint with Bayern Munich, but his stock has skyrocketed following his move to Real Madrid eight years ago.

The German midfield maestro has been a revelation for Real Madrid, playing a pivotal role in their dominance in Europe. Kroos has turned out over 350 times for Real Madrid thus far and is already a living legend for Los Blancos. But despite entering the final phase of his career, he remains a hot property, with Liverpool keen on signing him.

Jurgen Klopp has recently confirmed that Liverpool will try to sign a midfielder before the summer transfer window shuts down amid an injury crisis at Anfield. Thiago Alcantara is nursing a thigh injury, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita’s fitness travails are beyond frustrating now.

With Jordan Henderson and James Milner on the wrong side of 30, Liverpool will need a player who can efficiently rotate with the existing options while boosting their creative ranks, despite Harvey Elliott’s promising performance against Bournemouth. Kroos fits the bill perfectly, with Klopp keen on adding the Real Madrid midfield maestro to his squad.

While Kroos is in the final phase of his glittering career, he is still at the top of his game, thus making the Real Madrid midfielder a viable target for Liverpool. In addition to Kroos, the Reds have a few other midfielders on their radar, including Frenkie de Jong.

Marcos Llorente is another target for Liverpool, but he will bring a different skill set compared to Kroos and de Jong. It will be interesting to see if the Merseyside outfit will succeed in signing the 32-year-old midfield maestro from Real Madrid before the summer transfer window shuts down.
