Bayern Munich will reportedly look to sign Frenkie de Jong on loan from Barcelona this summer amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Frenkie de Jong is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich over a possible loan move in the ongoing transfer window. Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United also want to sign the Barcelona midfielder this summer.

Frenkie de Jong is enduring a nightmare despite being at his dream club, even though he has been a reliable performer for them. The Dutch midfielder is on the transfer list at FC Barcelona, who will look to balance the books, register Jules Kounde and attempt to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

The 25-year-old has had to share game-time early in the 2022/23 season, with Gavi and Pedri seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order. But despite everything, de Jong wants to remain at FC Barcelona beyond the summer transfer window amid interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

The interest from Bayern Munich is perplexing, considering Julian Nagelsmann has four top-notch midfielders at his disposal following the arrival of Ryan Gravenberch this summer. But the reigning Bundesliga champions want to sign de Jong on loan this summer, according to SPORT. And recent reports have also suggested that de Jong will only leave Barcelona to join Bayern Munich.

As for Chelsea, the Blues are in a spot of bother over the situations of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho. The ageing midfielders are in the final year of their respective contracts with the west London club, with the former also struggling to remain fit throughout the season. Frenkie de Jong has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the Barcelona midfielder has been a target for Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window. But de Jong has no interest in joining the Red Devils as he does not want to play in the UEFA Europa League. However, that has not deterred Manchester United from pursuing de Jong with vigour.

It is reasonable to assume that de Jong will prefer to join Bayern Munich, who will look to utilise the Philippe Coutinho formula to get him on board. But that will only happen if push comes to shove, with the Dutch midfielder still intending to remain at FC Barcelona.
