La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly weighing up signing 28-year-old Italian international Andrea Belotti in a Bosman move this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona will look to sign a new striker if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay both leave in the ongoing transfer window. One of the options on their table is 28-year-old Italian international Andrea Belotti, currently a free agent.

Andrea Belotti has enjoyed a fruitful career thus far despite playing for a club with midtable aspirations at best, producing some brilliant displays. Some of his performances were critical in keeping Torino in the Serie A, and he racked up a superb record of 113 goals and 28 assists in 251 outings for the Granata.

But Belotti’s stint with Torino ended when the summer transfer window opened, and he has become a free agent after running down his contract. But despite his solid record for the Granata, the 28-year-old Italian international is yet to get any closer to joining his next club. That stalemate could soon end, with Barcelona considering signing him.

Intermediaries have offered Belotti to Barcelona over a late Bosman move in the ongoing transfer window. And the Catalan giants are weighing up a possible move if Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both depart from Camp Nou in the coming days.

Aubameyang is reportedly inching closer to joining Chelsea, while Memphis Depay wants to move to Juventus, with Barcelona forcing him out of Camp Nou. But recent reports suggest Depay’s switch to the Serie A club is stalling due to his wage demands.

If the Dutch attacker does not depart from Camp Nou, Barcelona will not have a reason to invest in a striker as Depay can act as Robert Lewandowski’s deputy. But if the Catalan giants succeed in getting Depay off their books, Belotti might become a top target, with the 28-year-old Italian international desperate to kick-start the next phase of his career.

Widespread reports suggest that a move to AS Roma might be on the cards for Belotti. But the Serie A giants need to move some pieces before launching the offensive to land the Italian international. It will be interesting to see if the 28-year-old becomes a top target for Barcelona in the meantime.
