RCD Mallorca will reportedly look to sign out-of-favour Danish attacker Martin Braithwaite from fellow La Liga club Barcelona in a late move.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Martin Braithwaite is the subject of interest from RCD Mallorca over a last-ditch move in the ongoing transfer window. Javier Aguirre wants to reunite with the out-of-favour Barcelona attacker by moving him across La Liga this summer.

Martin Braithwaite will feel he has done nothing to warrant the treatment meted out by Barcelona in the last few months. The 31-year-old has been a handy backup striker for the Blaugrana since arriving from Leganes in an emergency move outside the transfer window in February 2020.

But the Danish attacker has become a peripheral figure for Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez, who does not fancy him. Barcelona even left Braithwaite out of the pre-season tour to the USA to ensure he sorts his future out after he managed only four appearances in the 2021/22 season. But the out-of-favour striker is yet to seal his exit from Camp Nou.

Braithwaite remains out of favour at Camp Nou and might have played his last game for Barcelona. But he might have a way to end his misery at the Catalan outfit, with La Liga club RCD Mallorca looking to sign him from Barcelona in a last-ditch move this summer.

Javier Aguirre, who managed Braithwaite at CD Leganes before he joined Barcelona, wants to reunite with the Danish international this season and has asked RCD Mallorca to launch the offensive to secure his services. And Los Piratas are expected to approach Barcelona over a possible move for the frustrated striker.

Braithwaite, who remains at loggerheads with Barcelona over his future, has received interest from other La Liga clubs like Getafe and Rayo Vallecano. But with a move yet to materialise, reuniting with Aguirre at RCD Mallorca might be his best option to seal an escape route out of his Camp Nou nightmare.

The Catalan giants have considered terminating Braithwaite’s contract to get him off their books. But RCD Mallorca might give Barcelona a way to offload the 31-year-old attacker as we approach the end of a frenetic summer transfer window.
