La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly secured the services of 19-year-old Spanish wonderkid David Ruiz this summer.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, David Ruiz is the latest player to bolster Real Madrid’s reserve side in the ongoing transfer window. The Merengues have shelled out around €150,000 to secure the services of the 19-year-old Valencia wonderkid this summer.

David Ruiz spent most of his formative years with Valencia and had been a member of their reserve side in the 2021/22 season. The teenage prodigy has made significant progress in his career in the last couple of seasons, turning out over 30 times for Los Che’s B team. He had also trained with the first team on several occasions when Jose Bordalas was at the helm at the Mestalla.

The 19-year-old even played in the UEFA Youth League for Valencia, and pundits in Spain have touted him for big things at the Mestalla. But Ruiz has left Los Che in the ongoing transfer window, with Real Madrid securing the services of the Spanish wonderkid in the early days of the 2022/23 season.

The interest from Real Madrid emerged last month, and it has taken several weeks for Florentino Perez to land the 19-year-old whizkid, who arrives from Valencia in a €150,000 deal. The Real Madrid president has been busy reinforcing the reserve team considerably in the summer transfer window, with quite a few prodigious talents arriving through the door thus far.

The most prominent arrivals have been in the offensive unit, with Noel Lopez and Alvaro Leiva joining Real Madrid. Recent reports have linked Real Madrid with several other promising prospects. And the Merengues have been keen on bolstering Raul Gonzalez’s defensive options.

David Ruiz had thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid Castilla, with Los Blancos ramping up the efforts to sign the 19-year-old Spanish wonderkid when Miguel Gutierrez joined Girona. The Spaniard had been keen on gaining first-team experience this season and thus decided to leave Real Madrid.

Ruiz will now replace Gutierrez in Raul’s squad at Real Madrid Castilla in the 2022/23 season. But the Merengues are not done with their summer recruitment, with Iker Bravo reportedly on the verge of arriving from Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer window shuts down.
