Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest are reportedly keen on signing Spanish full-back Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, as relayed by Sport Witness, Alvaro Odriozola is the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest over a possible move in the ongoing transfer window. The Real Madrid full-back is open to joining the Premier League new boys, with Los Blancos likely to sanction his sale.

Alvaro Odriozola joined Real Madrid from Real Sociedad in July 2018 and has blown hot and cold since then. The 26-year-old was brimming with potential when he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu four years ago but has struggled to usurp Dani Carvajal as the first-choice right-back for Real Madrid.

The Spanish international has turned out 43 times thus far for Real Madrid while chipping in with three goals and ten assists. But Odriozola has no future at the Bernabeu, even though he enjoyed a decent campaign on loan at Fiorentina in the 2021/22 season. That is because he failed to impress Carlo Ancelotti during the Merengues’ pre-season campaign.

Several clubs have shown interest in the Spanish full-back in the last few weeks, including Serie A giants Inter Milan. But Odriozola’s next destination could be the Premier League, with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest keen on securing the services of the Real Madrid defender in the ongoing transfer window.

The interest from Nottingham Forest is surprising, considering they have already signed one right-back in the summer transfer window. Neco Williams joined the Tricky Trees from Liverpool in July and has been impressive in the early stages of the 2022/23 season.

The Premier League new boys have also signed another right-back this summer, with Giulian Biancone arriving at Wilford Lane from Troyes last month. So it is unclear why Nottingham Forest might want to sign Odriozola from Real Madrid before the summer transfer window shuts down.

But the 26-year-old full-back is open to leaving Real Madrid to embark on an adventure in the Premier League. The reigning La Liga champions are ready to cash in on Odriozola and might sanction his sale to Nottingham Forest if they receive an attractive offer. It will be interesting to see if Nottingham Forest will seriously pursue the Real Madrid defender in the coming days.
