Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi is reportedly on the radars of Manchester United as they look for attacking reinforcements in the market.

According to the Evening Standard, Manchester United are keeping tabs on the situation of Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi as they consider making a swoop for the 21-year-old England attacker before the transfer window closes.

Hudson-Odoi came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and made his first-team breakthrough during the 2018/19 campaign. Tipped for a bright future, the Englishman was handed a bumper new contract in 2019 to stave off interest from Bayern Munich. However, the 21-year-old has failed to kick on as expected.

Hudson-Odoi has struggled for game-time at Chelsea due to injury problems and competition for places. He played just 15 times in the Premier League last season and has not played a single minute of football in the ongoing campaign. With Thomas Tuchel still pushing for another forward, his situation is unlikely to improve at this moment.

So, an exit seems likely for Hudson-Odoi before the transfer window, with clubs like Crystal Palace, Everton and West Ham United interested in signing him, while Newcastle United have also shown a keenness to secure his services. Manchester United have also now entered the fray for the signing of Hudson-Odoi.

Manchester United are off to the worst possible start to their Premier League campaign and are desperately looking to bring in attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are performing nowhere near their best level, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is far from certain.

It leaves Manchester United with a bunch of inexperienced youngsters like Amad Diallo, Facundo Pellistri and Anthony Elanga as options in the final third, thus requiring the addition of more quality in the final third. A move for Brazilian forward Antony had been considered but his asking price is proving to be a major hindrance.

It has forced them to consider other options, with as many as three Chelsea players on Manchester United’s radars. Indeed, the Red Devils are looking at Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech, both of whom are struggling for game-time at Stamford Bridge and have now added Hudson-Odoi to their list of targets as well.

A talented young prospect, Hudson-Odoi has bags of potential but has failed to live up to it so far. A move away from Stamford Bridge could be just what he needs to kickstart his career. However, a transfer to a club like Manchester United, who are currently in a very unstable situation, might not be the best move for the young Chelsea ace at this juncture.
