AS Monaco are reportedly in talks with Chelsea for Malang Sarr, with a loan move with a purchase option proposed by the Ligue 1 giants.

According to Santi Aouna, Malang Sarr is a target for AS Monaco, who are trying to get the 23-year-old defender on loan for the upcoming season. The Ligue 1 giants are trying to include a purchase option in the deal while considering Chelsea’s demands to complete the transfer.

The next few days are expected to get hectic in the Chelsea boardroom, as many players are expected to come in while a few are set to depart. Thomas Tuchel continues to focus on bringing in new stars to strengthen his squad ahead of the upcoming season. However, trimming the squad of unwanted players also remains on the agenda.

Malang Sarr’s name has cropped up in the last few days, with the 23-year-old central defender emerging as a target for a few clubs. AS Monaco are one of the teams interested in signing the Frenchman, as they continue to hold talks with Chelsea to complete the transfer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have placed certain conditions, which Monaco are currently considering. The Ligue giants want a loan move with a purchase option included with the deal. The two clubs still have no agreement as the Blues wait to complete a move for a centre-back before sanctioning Sarr’s departure.

Marc Cucurella has recently emerged as their primary defensive target, and Chelsea are taking quick steps to hold talks with Brighton over the transfer. They already have personal terms agreed with the player, and the Spaniard will sign the contract once a fee is agreed between the clubs.

Cucurella’s arrival will allow Tuchel to integrate the Brighton man on the left side of his back three, and he would essentially replace Antonio Rudiger in that position. Having already signed Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea have the appropriate personnel to begin the season properly.

However, Cucurella’s signing would spell the end for Malang Sarr, who has had few decent games in a Chelsea shirt. While the 23-year-old has been unconvincing for the most part, the Blues will have no problems dispensing off with him in this window, as Tuchel has to trim his squad to optimal levels.

Sarr also has an offer from Fulham, although Chelsea are uninterested in selling him to their west London rivals. Hence, they could agree on a move with AS Monaco, with talks reportedly progressing well between the two clubs.

Chelsea may not stop with the departure of Sarr, as there are a few more players the club may look to sell. Meanwhile, other players like Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso want to depart, but Chelsea are expected to be active in bringing in more players before the window closes.
