Serie A behemoths Juventus are reportedly weighing up the prospect of signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Dani Ceballos is the subject of interest from Juventus over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants have had to dip their toes in the market for a midfield reinforcement due to Paul Pogba’s long-term injury, with the Real Madrid midfielder emerging as a target.

Dani Ceballos has been with Real Madrid for half a decade, having arrived from Real Betis in July 2017. But the Spaniard is yet to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu. A two-year loan stint at Arsenal produced mixed results, while he has been a bit-part player in the three years he has spent at Real Madrid.

2021/22 was a season to forget for Ceballos, who dealt with a long-term ankle injury before managing only 400 minutes of game-time across 18 appearances for Real Madrid. And the 25-year-old has entered the final year of his Real Madrid contract, with his uncertain situation capturing the attention of Juventus.

Juventus seemed to have finished the midfield hiring business for the summer transfer window following Paul Pogba’s popular return in a Bosman move. But the Frenchman has sustained a long-term injury that might force him to miss most of the first half of the 2021/22 season.

In addition, Arthur Melo and Adrien Rabiot face uncertain futures at the Allianz Stadium, with Juventus ready to cash in on the out-of-favour duo. The Serie A giants thus have to dip their toes in the market for a central midfielder again, with recent reports linking them with Miralem Pjanic and Jorginho.

Ceballos has now emerged as a viable target for Juventus, with the Real Madrid midfielder likely to get game-time more regularly at the Serie A club than at Real Madrid. But recent reports have claimed that the reigning La Liga champions have offered the 25-year-old a new two-year contract.

However, Ceballos’s future remains uncertain, with other reports claiming Real Madrid will seek around €15 million to part ways with him. Amid all this, Juventus might be remiss not to attempt to prise the Spanish international away from Real Madrid, especially with 2022 being a World Cup year.
