Barcelona will reportedly face stiff competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan in the race to sign Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.

According to Spanish outlet El Larguero, Sergio Reguilon is the subject of interest from Inter Milan over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants have joined Barcelona and Sevilla in the race to sign the Spanish defender from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Sergio Reguilon has endured a topsy turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid nearly two years ago. The 25-year-old arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the back of a brilliant 2019/20 season on loan with Sevilla, but he has failed to build on that campaign.

The Spanish defender has featured 67 times for Spurs in the last two seasons, chipping in with two goals and nine assists. And Reguilon does not feature in Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming campaign, especially following the arrival of Ivan Perisic. But the player does not have a shortage of suitors, with Barcelona and Inter Milan keen on signing him.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona could offer a swap deal involving Tottenham target Memphis Depay to prise Reguilon away from the north London club. The Catalan giants are keen on signing a left-back this summer, with Jordi Alba the only natural option for the position for Xavi Hernandez to consider.

Marcos Alonso is Barcelona’s priority left-back target, but strained relations with Chelsea mean the move for the Spanish defender might not see the light of day. Reguilon is thus a viable target for Barcelona, who will have to fend off stiff competition from Inter Milan to land the Tottenham man.

The Serie A giants have lost Ivan Perisic this summer, leaving Robin Gosens as the only option for the left wing-back slot in Simone Inzaghi’s team. Reguilon has thus popped up on Inter Milan’s radar after Tottenham offered the Nerazzurri the chance to sign the 25-year-old.

Apart from Barcelona and Inter Milan, Reguilon is also a target for Sevilla, with the Spaniard keen on rejoining the Andalusian club. So with the race to sign the Spanish international heating up, it will be interesting to see where he finds his next home after becoming surplus to requirements at Tottenham.
