Real Madrid contact Chelsea for Armando Broja

La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly contacted Chelsea over a possible move for 20-year-old Albanian prospect Armando Broja.

According to a report by London Evening Standard, Armando Broja is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions have submitted an enquiry to Chelsea about the availability of the 20-year-old prospect.

Armando Broja is the latest Chelsea academy graduate to show that he is ready for a bigger stage. But while the Albanian international has been impressive during his loan stints with Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton, he might not have a long-term future at Chelsea, even though Thomas Tuchel is reluctant to lose him in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old wants to embark on a new adventure this summer by joining a club where he can feature prominently. And Broja’s openness to leaving Chelsea has captured the attention of several clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.

Real Madrid seemed to have been done with the summer transfer business, at least as far as new arrivals were concerned. Carlo Ancelotti also insisted that the Merengues were not going to dip their toes in the market for another signing, claiming he was satisfied with the squad at his disposal.

But Ancelotti’s stance has changed in the last few days, with concerns surrounding the futures of Marco Asensio, Borja Mayoral, and Mariano Diaz rising. Recent reports have claimed that Mayoral is on the verge of completing a €10 million move to Getafe. And Real Madrid might have to reconsider the decision not to sign more players this summer if Asensio and Mariano depart from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Broja has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, although Los Blancos might not be able to offer him regular game-time for at least another season. The Merengues have contacted Chelsea to enquire about the 20-year-old’s availability, but the Blues are preparing for the 2022/23 season keeping Broja in mind as a member of the squad.

However, with several other clubs, including Everton and Newcastle United, also vying for Broja’s signature, Chelsea will have to weather the storm in the coming weeks. As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos will unlikely secure the services of the 20-year-old Chelsea prospect this summer.
