Liverpool and Newcastle United are reportedly tracking the progress of 18-year-old Danish attacking sensation William Osula at Sheffield United.

According to a report by The Star, Liverpool and Newcastle United are closely monitoring the progress of William Osula. The two Premier League clubs are unlikely to attempt to sign the 18-year-old Sheffield United attacking sensation in the ongoing transfer window. The Blades are considering sending him out on loan to Burton Albion.

William Osula spent most of his formative years in his homeland, going from strength to strength at FC Copenhagen before finishing his footballing education at Sheffield United. The Danish wonderkid joined the Blades as a 15-year-old in 2018 and has come leaps and bounds since then.

The 18-year-old attacking sensation made his professional debut for Sheffield United in March 2022 and has turned out four more times for the South Yorkshire club since then. And Osula’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle United, keeping a watching brief on him.

The Reds have focused on strengthening their youth ranks since Jurgen Klopp took over as the head coach nearly seven years ago. While very few Liverpool academy products have graduated to become first-team regulars, the German tactician has given youngsters a fair chance, especially if the Merseyside giants poach them at an age when they are ready to feature regularly at the senior level.

The latest shining example of such an outlook has been Harvey Elliott, with pundits tipping Fabio Carvalho for a bright future at Liverpool FC. And with Roberto Firmino approaching the twilight of his career, Liverpool will need to invest in a striker, especially if he leaves amid interest from Juventus. But the Reds need to fend off stiff competition from Newcastle United to sign Osula.

Like Liverpool, the Magpies are also focusing on strengthening their youth ranks since their recent takeover. Several promising prospects have joined the Tyneside outfit, with Brazilian attacking sensation Giovani now emerging on their radar. And Osula is a viable candidate to be Chris Wood’s long-term replacement.

But Liverpool or Newcastle will unlikely sign the Danish attacking sensation this summer, with Sheffield United expected to send him out on loan to Burton Albion. The Blades were impressed by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s work with Daniel Jebbison, with Osula the next in line to blossom under the former Chelsea forward. But Liverpool and Newcastle should monitor the 18-year-old closely in the coming season.
