Serie A champions AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing Argentine playmaker Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Pianeta Milan, Giovani Lo Celso is the latest Tottenham Hotspur player to emerge on the radar of AC Milan over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A champions are also hot on the heels of Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, and Pape Matar Sarr.

Giovani Lo Celso has endured a strange career thus far, as he has played for two of Europe’s most widely recognised clubs – Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur. But the 26-year-old has enjoyed most of his success in Spain with Real Betis and Villarreal, where he spent the second half of the 2021/22 season.

The Argentine international had one goal and one assist in 21 appearances for Villarreal, but he was a crucial member of Unai Emery’s squad. Lo Celso has now returned to Tottenham this summer but does not feature in Antonio Conte’s plans, with the Italian tactician sanctioning his sale. And AC Milan could offer him an escape route out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Serie A giants seem intent on raiding Tottenham for several players this summer, with Lo Celso the fourth Spurs player to emerge on the Italian club’s radar in the ongoing transfer window. Japhet Tanganga is the most notable of the targets, with the Tottenham defender keen on joining AC Milan.

In addition, three Tottenham midfielders also feature on AC Milan’s wishlist, including Lo Celso. Tanguy Ndombele first emerged on AC Milan’s radar, with the Rossoneri recently setting sights on Pape Matar Sarr. And now Lo Celso has emerged as a viable target for the Serie A champions.

Unlike Ndombele and Sarr, Lo Celso can reprise multiple roles in midfield and attack, as he can play in a double-pivot and as a no. 10. The Argentine international is also capable of playing on the flanks, making him an attractive target for AC Milan.

But the Italian heavyweights will have to fend off stiff competition from several other clubs to sign the 26-year-old, with Villarreal, Napoli, and Fiorentina also keen on signing him. It will be interesting to see if AC Milan will ramp up the efforts to sign Lo Celso from Tottenham this summer.
