Real Madrid attacking prospect Takefusa Kubo is on the verge of joining La Liga rivals Real Sociedad in a deal worth €6 million.

According to Spanish journalist Jose Luis Sanchez, Takefusa Kubo is edging closer to an exit from La Liga champions Real Madrid in favour of a move to Real Sociedad. The 21-year-old will be joining in a deal worth €6 million, with Los Blancos retaining 50% rights of the Japanese international.

Kubo joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from FC Tokyo but has spent all his three years at the club away on loan. The Japanese forward has had two temporary stints with RCD Mallorca, where he spent the last season, along with spells at Getafe and Villarreal.

Back at Real Madrid this summer, Kubo found himself in a disadvantageous position yet again due to the attacking riches available at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal. In addition to that, all three non-EU spots available in the squad have been taken up, leaving the young forward in limbo.

Real Sociedad have had their eyes on Kubo for a while now and had made failed attempts to sign him on loan in the past. They were once again pushing to sign him this summer, on a permanent transfer. Real Madrid had been reluctant to sell him outright, leading to talks breaking down for some time.

However, with Los Blancos keen on sorting the youngster’s future before they fly out for their pre-season tour to the United States, talks resumed again. And the two clubs have now come to an agreement over the transfer of Kubo.

As per the report, the 21-year-old Japanese ace will be joining Real Sociedad on a permanent transfer in a deal worth €6 million. However, Real Madrid will retain 50% rights of the player and will receive half of any proceeds from the player’s future sale.

A prodigious talent, Kubo had been titled the ‘Japanese Messi’. And despite his obvious talent, things have failed to click for him at Real Madrid due to external circumstances. With a transfer now almost complete, he will be hoping to settle down at Real Sociedad and kickstart his career in Spain.
