Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad, a target for Arsenal, Real Madrid and Newcastle United.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are among four clubs showing interest in Real Sociedad attacker Alexander Isak. Arsenal, Real Madrid and Newcastle United are the other three outfits exploring the possibility of signing the Sweden international, valued between €50 million and €60 million this summer.

Isak joined Real Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 and has since made 128 appearances for La Real, scoring 43 times and assisting eight goals. The Swede produced his best numbers in the 2020/21 season, netting 17 league goals for the Basque club.

In the recently-concluded campaign, the 22-year-old was on the score sheet ten times across all competitions, making him one of the most sought-after young strikers in Europe. Isak is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs on the continent and could be on the move this summer.

Newcastle United are seriously pursuing Isak, and are reportedly willing to offer a club-record amount to sign the player. Recent reports have suggested that a sum in the region of €50-60 million would be needed to convince Real Sociedad into selling the young striker, who has four years remaining on his current contract with the Spanish club.

Real Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal have also joined the race to sign the youngster. Los Blancos see Isak as a quality player to have as a backup for Karim Benzema in the attacking unit. Florentino Perez is said to be keeping tabs on the Swedish international, but Real Madrid are yet to make an official move.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have already signed Gabriel Jesus but want to add another attacker as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette. Mikel Arteta has identified Isak as a possible signing, and the north Londoners are prepared to attempt to sign Isak this summer.

Liverpool are also eager to add attacking reinforcements following the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich. But Real Sociedad’s asking price of €50-60 million could force them to look for cheaper alternatives. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool follow up with an offer, and how Real Madrid, Arsenal and Newcastle United approach him.
