Chelsea are reportedly ready to enter the chase to sign Barcelona target Robert Lewandowski, who is open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
SportBILD journalist Christian Falk has offered an update on the future of Robert Lewandowski. The Bayern Munich forward has long been linked with a move to FC Barcelona this summer, with the two parties currently locked in negotiations over the Pole’s potential move to Camp Nou.
However, it appears Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are both keeping close tabs on the situation and are expected to make a move should the negotiations between Barcelona and Bayern collapse. Lewandowski is open to a move to Stamford Bridge, as he is determined to leave Allianz Arena in the summer transfer window.
Lewandowski has spent eight years at Bayern Munich, emerging as one of the most gifted players to ever play for the club. His tally of 344 goals in 375 competitive matches speaks volumes about his quality as a goalscorer, with many regarding him as one of the greatest players in the history of football.
But after winning eight back-to-back Bundesliga titles, Lewandowski is looking for a change of scenery. He has publicly confirmed his desire to leave Bayern in the summer and reportedly has his heart set on a move to FC Barcelona.
However, the Catalans have found it difficult to reach an agreement with Bayern. The Bavarians are holding out for a hefty fee for the Pole’s services, making it difficult for Barcelona to afford the player, especially in light of their ongoing economic crisis.
This has opened up the opportunity for Chelsea to potentially hi-jack the move. Fresh from sanctioning Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan, the Blues are determined to splash the cash on a new forward this summer, and that is where Lewandowski comes into the fray.
Thomas Tuchel is well aware of the Pole’s credentials, having watched him closely during his time in the Bundesliga. Although the Chelsea boss has not had much luck managing top-class strikers in the recent past, he believes Lewandowski’s grit and ability to settle into any condition should make him an ideal solution to Chelsea’s goalscoring problems.

That said, it is fair to point out that the former Borussia Dortmund striker does favour a move to Barcelona. He is keen on playing under Xavi Hernandez and helping the club restore its former glory, although if the deal collapses, Chelsea will be more than prepared to hi-jack the transfer.
