Talented Wimbledon striker Zach Robinson could join Premier League giants Chelsea this summer.

According to Teamtalk, Premier League giants Chelsea could land Wimbledon’s talented young striker Zach Robinson in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Lambeth Town before moving to Wimbledon in 2017. He spent two seasons in their youth team before making his first-team bow in 2019 against Southend United. Since then, Robinson has made 15 appearances for Wimbledon, scoring twice and assisting once.

Robinson’s time at Plough Lane was largely spent out on loan. He has so far enjoyed temporary spells at five different clubs and has experienced moderate success. While his performances have been nothing to write home about, the appointment of former Wimbledon boss Mark Robinson as Chelsea’s developmental squad head coach could offer the youngster a shot at the big time.

The 20-year-old’s contract with Wimbledon has expired, and the Dons are keen to retain him. Chelsea, for their part, have been keeping tabs on Robinson’s progress and could sign him on. The chance to play under his former manager, this time at Cobham could prove to be tempting.

Several clubs appear keen to sign the player on, but it is unclear if any of them are of the same pedigree as the Blues. The Stamford Bridge outfit is one of the best clubs in Europe, and an opportunity to join them could be too good to turn down for the young forward.

Robinson is a talented dribbler who is also good in the air. While he could prove to be a late bloomer, there is still much to be done for him to be considered Premier League-level quality. Given the facilities and coaching staff at Chelsea’s disposal, Robinson will have enough opportunities to fine-tune his talents and potentially repay the club’s faith in him should the transfer go ahead.

With Romelu Lukaku gone, Chelsea require a prolific frontman who can lead the line next season. Robinson is far from being the solution and is, if anything, a gamble. Given that he is a free agent, signing him is a risk that Chelsea can afford to take. Time will tell whether he has it in him to make it to the top.
